Programs must be written for people to read, and only incidentally for machines to execute. -- Harold Abelson, Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs
Hi, I'm Humphrey 👋 I'm a Python and Django developer who believes the real power of technology lies in the people who build it together. Most of what I do happens outside the editor organizing local meetups, helping put together events like DjangoCon Africa and PyCon Zimbabwe, and finding ways to lower the barrier for newcomers joining the Python and Django ecosystem.
I'm a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation and a member of the Django Software Foundation, communities that have given me far more than I could ever give back. Open source, to me, isn't just about code. It's about showing up in forums, at conferences, in mentorship conversations, and in the unglamorous work of keeping communities running.
The PSF also recognized my contributions with a Python Software Foundation Q4 2020 Community Service Award, which I'm grateful for and still humbled by.
When I step away from screens, you'll find me on a long run or pulling apart a switch mode power supply to see how it ticks.
